September 27, 2023. MATDOT Art Center had the opportunity to welcome Mr. Achmad Wicaksono, the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Thailand, along with ten Indonesian artists (Bunga Jeruk, Erica Hestu Wahyuni, Galuh Tajimalela, Heri Dono, Jumaldi Alfi, Lini Natalini Widhiasi, Mola, Putu Sutawijaya, Rendra Santana, and Theresia Agustina S), as well as two Thai artists (Jiamchan Changkonghom and Somsak Chowtadapong). All of them participated in an exhibition titled “Blossoming Curiosity,” which is a collaborative art exhibition between Thai and Indonesian artists, scheduled for October at the National Gallery.
During the event, everyone had the chance to explore various parts of our art center, starting with a visit to the ongoing exhibitions, “Japanese Movement” and “After Sunflowers.” They also visited studios and had discussions with Mr. David Jensz, an Australian artist who is currently participating in the artist residency at MATDOT.
The event concluded with a lively and engaging exchange of experiences related to the art scenes in both Thailand and Indonesia, as well as discussions about art practices, with Mr. Tawatchai Somkong, the President and Founder of MATDOT Art Center.
We hope that the visit of these artists and the officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Thailand will mark the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between artists and cultural organizations from both countries.
