On December 11, 2023, artist Ernesto Neto and his wife traveled to MATDOT Art Center for a week after returning from their work at the Thailand Biennale, Chiang Rai 2023. His artwork, titled “Chantdance,” was inspired by his experiences in Chiang Rai province and is currently exhibited at the Mae Fah Luang Cultural Park (Mae Fah Luang Gardens) until April 30, 2024.
During his stay at MATDOT, Ernesto was also invited to lecture at an Artist Talk event organized by the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Art at Silpakorn University on December 14. Ernesto shared his work experiences spanning over three decades with students and the general public.
Ernesto Neto, born in 1964, is a Brazilian artist currently residing and working in Rio de Janeiro. He is globally recognized for his large-scale art installations that explore the relationship between environment and humanity, using local materials such as fabric, spices, sand, and various found objects in his creations. He often encourages viewers to touch, participate, and become part of the artwork.
