Swiss Ambassador Opens “Still Alive” Exhibition by Liliane Zumkemi

On 4 March 2024, MATDOT Art Center celebrated the opening of “Still Alive,” an art installation by Swiss artist Liliane Zumkemi. Zumkemi, a recent participant in the center’s residency program, drew inspiration for her work from the story of the “Pla Wee Ket” (Platytropius siamensis), an extinct fish native to Thailand’s Chao Phraya River.

The exhibition, an audio-visual experience, aims to remind viewers of the significance of lost species and the importance of environmental conservation. The opening ceremony was a successful event, presided over by His Excellency Mr. Pedro Zwahlen, the Swiss Ambassador to Thailand, Cambodia, and Lao PDR. Guests, including artists, educators, students, and art enthusiasts, enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the opportunity to explore Zumkemi’s unique installation.

“Still Alive” is made possible through the generous support of the Swiss Cultural Fund. MATDOT Art Center expresses its sincere gratitude for their contribution and looks forward to continued collaboration with the Swiss Embassy on future projects.
