On 19 October 2024, MATDOT Art Center welcomed students from the Faculty of Arts at Silpakorn University for a field study trip that promised a rich, hands-on experience in contemporary art. The students, accompanied by their lecturer, had the opportunity to view the current exhibitions, Open Ocean, and Ka-Meow-Sutra They also engaged in conversations with the featured artists, Peter Holden (USA) and Nawat Lertsawaengkit (Thailand), each of whom shared insights into their creative processes.

Peter Holden, whose works are on display in ‘Open Ocean,’ discussed his artistic expertise and the experiences he gained during a three-month residency at MATDOT. He guided the students through each piece, offering in-depth perspectives on his work. Nawat Lertsawaengkit, creator of ‘Ka-Meow-Sutra,’ spoke about the enjoyment he derived from creating his series.

The students were also treated to a rare encounter with renowned artist Susan Collins (UK), who was in residence at MATDOT briefly and whose works are currently on display at the Bangkok Art Biennale 2024, held at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC).

MATDOT expressed appreciation to the students and lecturers for their visit, which brought a vibrant atmosphere to the center that afternoon.
