On 11 November 2024, MATDOT Art Center hosted an engaging opening event for two new exhibitions, ‘CITY PATTERN’ and ‘CIRCUS Reloaded,’ drawing a diverse crowd of art enthusiasts, including Thai and international artists, art lecturers, students, and art lovers.

The ‘CITY PATTERN exhibition, titled Textile Designs of Yang Tzu-Hsing & The Story of Gimgoanheng,’ celebrates Taiwanese textile heritage through the work of Yang Tzu-Hsing, a fourth-generation textile designer and owner of the 101-year-old Gimgoanheng fabric store. The exhibition weaves together textile design, photography, and historical records, offering a unique perspective on Taiwanese culture and craftsmanship.

In ‘CIRCUS Reloaded,’ Italian artist Gianluca Vernizzi continues his exploration of social critique through art. Blending elements from previous exhibitions, ‘CIRCUS Reloaded’ juxtaposes the sharp critiques of global issues from ‘CIRCUS Modena’ with the thought-provoking themes of the ‘CIRCUS Bangkok Charity Tour,’ creating a captivating and layered experience.

Following the opening ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to explore both exhibitions across MATDOT and Blacklist Gallery. Guests also engaged in insightful discussions with the featured artists, delving into their creative processes and the inspirations behind these compelling works.
