On 27 January 2025, an opening event was held for ‘Engraved Epics,’ an exhibition celebrating the artistic brilliance of early Bengali engravers. Curated by Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya, a distinguished art historian, the exhibition showcases a rare collection of antique prints from India, illustrating the legendary Mahabharata and Ramayana epics.

Bhattacharya, who has dedicated years to researching early Bengali art, opened the event with a speech highlighting the cultural significance of these historical prints. He explained how the intricate engravings not only preserved the narratives of these ancient texts but also influenced traditional art across Southeast Asia.

The curator also took a moment to express his gratitude to Tawatchai Somkong, the founder and director of MATDOT, for providing a platform to exhibit these remarkable works. He also acknowledged the dedication of the MATDOT team in bringing the exhibition to life.
