On 18 August 2026, MATDOT Art Center welcomed German flautist Lena Seitz for an intimate solo recital that took audiences on a musical journey across centuries, cultures, and contrasting emotional landscapes.

Born in Karlsruhe, Seitz has performed extensively throughout Europe and Asia with leading orchestras and contemporary music ensembles. This August, she is undertaking an artist residency at MATDOT alongside a guest lectureship in Thailand.

The afternoon brought together visual artists, lecturers, students, music enthusiasts, and members of the public. Seitz opened the 50-minute recital with an introduction to the programme and, between pieces, offered insights into each composer, musical style, historical context, and source of inspiration.

Carefully curated, the programme moved from the elegant Baroque soundscapes of Georg Philipp Telemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach to the fiery virtuosity of Sigfrid Karg-Elert, before entering the expressive territory of contemporary solo works and the vibrant rhythms of Tango and Flamenco. Together, the selections revealed the flute’s remarkable versatility and emotional range.

Following the performance, audience members spoke with Seitz about their impressions, while music students exchanged questions with her about performance techniques.
