On 8 June 2026, an evening of art, reflection, and celebration brought together artists, friends, and members of the public for the opening reception of MISS, a new exhibition by Thai artist Tawatchai Somkong.

Through MISS, Tawatchai creates a space for both documentation and contemplation through the language of the nude. Centring on the bodies of transgender women—individuals who have historically been absent from mainstream traditions of nude representation—the exhibition records and interprets their physical presence through a diverse range of artistic approaches. Realism, Pop Art, Cubism, and the artist’s signature heavily layered impasto technique come together to form a powerful visual dialogue on identity, visibility, and representation.

The evening began with remarks from the artist, who shared the inspiration behind the series and his desire for the exhibition to contribute to Pride Month celebrations. By presenting transgender women as subjects of dignity, beauty, and complexity, Tawatchai hopes to encourage greater understanding and appreciation of gender diversity through art.
