On 28 January 2025, a group of lecturers and students from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Art at Silpakorn University visited MATDOT Art Center for a field trip, immersing themselves in both artistic heritage and industry knowledge.

The visit began with a tour of ‘Engraved Epics,’ an exhibition celebrating the Mahabharata and Ramayana, two of the world’s greatest epics. 

The exhibition showcased intricate illustrations by early Bengali engravers, whose craftsmanship brought these legendary tales to life through printed books. The students had the opportunity to study these historical works up close, gaining insight into traditional engraving techniques and narrative art.

Following the exhibition, the group explored the art center and met Ameena Aljerman Alali, an artist participating in the MATDOT Art Residency program during January–February 2025. She was working on a new project inspired by the Thai cultural landscape. The students visited her studio and had the opportunity to engage in discussions with her about her artistic process and inspirations.

The visit concluded on a lively and inspiring note, with MATDOT expressing gratitude for the students’ enthusiasm and curiosity. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for young artists to connect with both historical and modern artistic practices, enriching their creative journey.
