Stepping Beyond the White Cube: Burapha University Students Encounter Art in Action

On 6 August 2025, a group of students and lecturers from Burapha University visited MATDOT Art Center as part of the project “Beyond the White Cube: A Field Study of Diverse Art Spaces,” a field trip activity under the “Art Museum and Gallery” course within the Cultural Resource Management programme.

The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the roles and operational processes of diverse art spaces. By engaging directly with staff and exhibitions, participants gained firsthand insight into the broader landscape of Thailand’s contemporary art scene.

During their time at the centre, the group explored two ongoing exhibitions: In Another Space, a collaborative showcase by R.M. Naeem and Sadaf Naeem, and Tree of Life by Thai artist Peerapong Doungkaew. The tour, guided by MATDOT staff, introduced students to the conceptual foundations of the artworks as well as behind-the-scenes practices in exhibition management.

MATDOT Art Center expressed its gratitude to the visiting group, noting the value of nurturing future professionals and providing inspiration to the next generation of cultural practitioners.
