Peter Holden

Peter Holden was born and raised in southern California, attending UC Santa Barbara for undergrad and Cal State Los Angeles for his MFA, which included two years of study at the Academia de Belle Arti in Firenze, Italy.

Developing a career in the music business concurrently with his art practice, he first worked as a music journalist in Hollywood and then as an international artist executive in London, Amsterdam and Köln, Germany.   At the same time, he was starting to show his paintings and drawings in the Netherlands, Italy and the UK before returning to southern California.

With subsequent solo shows in West Hollywood at the Don O’Melveny Gallery and in Portland at the High and Lo Gallery, Peter also was establishing roots in Todos Santos, Baja Sur in Mexico.   

He has consistently shown work with the seminal Galeria de Todos Santos and Ida Victoria Gallery, in San Jose del Cabo over the following years in that region. 

In the music business, Peter held senior international marketing roles for Virgin Records, Disney and more recently with Concord Records, working with such artists as the Smashing Pumpkins, Paula Abdul, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Sia, John Fogerty (CCR) and many others.

With previous artist residencies on Vancouver Island in Canada and in the Guadalajara area of central Mexico, Peter has extensive international experience and paints in a variety of idioms.
