Jaime Ekkens is an interdisciplinary Asian-American artist who was born in Korea. Having received a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2007, she moved to New York City and successfully pursued her MFA in Computer Arts at The School of Visual Arts. She moved from New York to China in December 2018 to complete an artist residency with A Centric Space, an artist-run gallery and studio program located in the artist enclave Zhujiajiao, just outside of Shanghai. Other artist-in-residence programs Ekkens completed have been in Beijing for Red Gate Gallery in 2017, Iceland’s NES: Artist Residency in Skagostrond, and NY20+ Artist Village in Chengdu in 2020 and 2022.

Professional experience in New York City as a motion designer includes some of the biggest names in television and media including Hearst, CBS News, Nickelodeon, and ABC News. Her independent short films screened all over the world in over 100 international film festivals and won jury awards in Manhattan, Los Angeles, Spain, and Brazil. Her fine art has been exhibited with the Museum of Creative Minds in Shanghai, the Contemporary Art Museum in Hefei, Shanghai’s Powerlong Museums, Shanghai Art Collectors Museum, Mao Art Space Shanghai, Wink Art Space in Chengdu, 2522 Unlabled Art Space in Guangzhou, the Chinese European Art Center in Xiamen, Mars Pop Art Festival in Wuhan and many more space in China and abroad.
