Stephen Eastaugh is an established Australian mixed media artist. He is primarily a visual artist with severe wanderlust as over the past few decades he has travelled to over 100 countries scattered across all continents.
While on the road he has managed to present over 100 solo exhibitions in a wide range of venues. Studios have been set up on a Russian icebreaker at the North Pole, in a science building one winter in east Antarctica and many places in-between including Thon Buri Bangkok. Over 30 formal art residencies have been undertaken and soon Stephen returns to Thailand.
Travel, geography and dis/location have continuously fed his practice which has always been characterized by overseas research and the creation of new mixed media work, works on paper or film work in response to his extensive travels.
During March 2026 at MATDOT the artist wishes to gather new materials for future work and to create a draft for a unique travelogue.
