Boonserm Premthada

25 May 2022 – Boonserm Premthana visited MATDOT to talk with us about his recent project ‘Elephant Theatre’ at the Biennale of Architecture and Landscape Design (May–July 2022) in Versaille, France, as well as his upcoming project ‘Elephant Dung Bring Art Installation’ at the Royal Academy of Arts, for the 254th Summer Exhibition in London, UK (June–August 2022).

Boonserm Premthana is a renowned architect and artist whose works have won many international awards. He was the representative of the Thai Pavilion at the Biennale Architettura 2021 in Venice.

Theekawut Boonvijitra

17 February 2022 – Theekawut Boonvijitra, lecturer of Fine art at The Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, visited MATDOT and gave his portrait painting of Silpa Bhirasri to Tawatchai Somkong.

Baan Noorg Collaborative Art & Culture

21 January 2022 –  Jiradej & Pornpilai Meemalai, founders and co-directors of Baan Noorg Collaborative Art & Culture — a non-profit artist-run initiative, a fundament strategy for community development and an artistic practice service-providing program located in Nongpho district, Ratchaburi — visited MATDOT to discuss with Tawatchai Somkong about their participation in the upcoming documenta 15, Kassel, Germany.

Koichi Sato and Hideki Umezawa

21 December 2021 – Koichi Sato and Hideki Umezawa, Japanese artists whose works were selected for the Thailand Biennale, Korat 2021 exhibition, visited MATDOT.

Somsak Chowtadapong, Thongchai Rakpathum and Chalermsak Radanachan

14 December 2021 – National artists Somsak Chowtadapong and Thongchai Rakpathum, Mr. Mango Marco Italian Curator and Gallerist, Italian Artist Gianluca Vernizzi, Tawatchai of MATDOT and his brother Adisak Somkong together with Asst. Prof. Chalermsak Radanachan of Bunditpatanasilpa Institute gathered in the friendly atmosphere for a dinner at Matdot Café.

Marco Mango

December 2021 – Marco Mango, an author of cultural and social projects, marketing management specialist, art director, and curator, traveled to Thailand for participating in the opening reception of the Thailand Biennale, Korat 2021. During his 2-week visit, he chose to reside at MATDOT Art Residency to explore the vibrant aspect of Bangkok, and develop an idea for MATDOT’s business model.

Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, SU

20 March 2021 – A group of students from the Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University led by their lecturer, Theekawut Boonvijit, visited MATDOT to see the exhibition “The Revolving World.” On this occasion, Somsak Chowtadapong, one of the three exhibited artists, led the tour and discussed his art practice. In addition, the group also got a chance to talk with Fiza Ghauri, a Pakistani-American artist who resided at MATDOT Art Residency at that time.

Faculty of Architecture, CU

20 November 2020 – A group of students from the faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, led by their lecturer, Preechaya Sittipunt visited MATDOT. After viewing the current exhibition “POST-COVID,” the group joined the discussion with the founder, Tawatchai Somkong about the management of the art center, as well as the artist, Gianluca Vernizzi about the art creation process.

17 November 2020 – Chalermchai Kositpipat, National Artist of Thailand for visual arts (painting) visit MATDOT to discuss and exchange ideas for the future of Thai arts scene with Tawatchai Somkong.

Vasan Sitthiket

15 February 2020 – Vasan Sitthiket, Vannapon Chimbanchong and Nawat Lertsawaengkit participated in the creation of Silpa Bhirasri paintings. All three finished artworks were given to Tawatchai Somkong’s collection of Silpa Bhirasri paintings.

30 December 2019 – Jongsuwat Angsuvarnsiri, Managing Director of SAC Gallery and team paid a visit and made a new year greeting to MATDOT founder, Tawatchai Somkong.

24 December 2019 – Chavalit Soemprungsuk, National Artist of Thailand for visual arts gave a his portrait painting of Silpa Bhirasri to MATDOT founder, Tatwatchai Somkong

9 November 2019 – Jakapan Vilasineekul, artist and lecturer of fine art at the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Art, Silpakorn University and Japanese art researcher, Yusaku Immamura and Tsuyoshi Ozawa, visited MATDOT Art Center.

Saman Suppasri

3 September 2019 – Saman Suppasri, lecturer of art at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Art, Thammasat University visited MATDOT and shared his thought about Prof. Silpa Bhirasri, on the occasion of Silpa Bhirasri Day; 15 September 2019, for the online program “Art จัง.”

Suchart Taotong

3 September 2019 – Prof. Suchart Taotong, artist and lecturer of art at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Art, Burapha University visited MATDOT and shared his thought about Prof. Silpa Bhirasri, in occasion of Silpa Bhirasri Day; 15 September 2019, for the online program “Art จัง.”

Teerawat Mulvilai

7 March 2019 – Teerawat Mulvilai visited MATDOT for the shooting of online program “Art จัง,” an aspiring art program presenting the story of art through the artist’s experience. Teerawat is one of Thailand’s most prominent contemporary dramatic artists. He is also a performer, a dancer, and a director of physical theatre. He is the founder of B-Floor Theater whose works combine fine arts and performing arts. In 2018, Teerawat won Silpathorn award in Performing Art.

Jogen Chowdhury

May 2019 – Jogen Chowdhury is one of the most eminent Indian artists of the 21st century. Chowdhury is currently a professor of painting at the Institute of Fine Arts (Kala Bhavana) of the Visva Bharati University in Santiniketan. In 2014, Jogen Chowdhury has been elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Trinamool Congress.

Andrew Stahl

21 August 2019 – Andrew Stahl is a British painter who lives and works in the UK. He is known for his large figurative paintings. Stahl is Professor of Fine Art and Head of Undergraduate Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art. The experience Stahl has accumulated over many residencies across Asia results in the complex multicultural dimension of his works.
