On 13 February 2026, MATDOT Art Center was honoured to welcome Andreas Sumper, Deputy Head of Mission from the Austrian Embassy Bangkok. His visit marked a significant moment of support and recognition for the ongoing international residency programme.
Mr. Sumper attended to congratulate Austrian artist Julia Bugram, whose Open Studio event was recently presented as part of her residency in Bangkok. As the principal supporter of the programme, the Embassy’s presence reaffirmed its commitment to fostering cultural dialogue and artistic exchange between Austria and Thailand.
During the visit, Bugram introduced her working studio and presented a new body of work developed throughout January and February 2026. The discussion extended beyond the artworks themselves, evolving into a lively exchange on the contemporary art scenes in both Austria and Thailand, highlighting shared challenges and future possibilities.
Following the studio tour, Mr. Sumper explored the wider premises and met with MATDOT’s founder and president, Tawatchai Somkong, to discuss future collaborations.
MATDOT extends its sincere thanks to the Austrian Embassy Bangkok for its generous support and looks forward to continued partnership in future artistic and cultural initiatives.
