Marco Mango

Marco Mango Gandino Aka Mangok (ITHAILIAN MOOD) born in Modena on August 16, 1967. Author of cultural and social project, marketing management specilaist, art director and curator. He works and live in Modena, Milan and Bangkok.

From 1981 to 1988 he lived in Bra (CN) and there he was educated at Art Institute in Saluzzo (CN) -wood crafting section- then by his great grandfather Marco Gandino and and at Le Macabre (historic live club owned by Busso family). From 1988 to1992 Mango attended the Academy of fine Arts in Bologna and graduated in sculpture. In 1990 he participated as assistant of Italian painter Franco Guerzoni at the Venice Biennale.

From 1993  to1997 he was assistant to Guido De Maria at Comix Editorial Staff – PANINI publishing company. From 2000 to 2003 Mango was editor-in-chief for Collezioni Edge (Collezioni, Logos publisher), art and design (IT / ENG), as well as author and director for Navert Film (Rome) -Rai Sat Art- for portraits of Emilio Mazzoli (gallery owner) with Luca Busso, and 30 ‘/ Dino Gavina – the history of Italian design, 30’.

In 2002 Mango’s first daughter Margherita was born. 2003 was the year he founded Galleria 42 Contemporaneo which he run till 2014 as a creative research and production art space. From 2005 to 2009 Mango partnered with Ricci at studio MariRima focusing on ideation of project-based programs in collaboration with Armin Linke, Gabriele Basilico, Luca Pancrazzi and Olivo Barbieri. Their exclusive portfolio was primarily in Emilia region serving companies such as FLORIM Ceramiche. In 2007 Mango’s second daughter Virginia was born. In 2018, 2019 and 2021 he covered the role of Art director of Arigamo-Arigato / Modena meets Tokyo, a cultural and trade project www.arigamoarigato.it 

Since 2020 Mango has been consulting TINTORIA EMILIANA in Modena (Italy) as Marketing and Communication Manager www.tintoriaemiliana.it In 2021 started consulting -as marketing art curator- VERNICE sustainable paint colors international program within the Bangkok-based Design and Communication R&D Center directed by Gianluca Vernizzi.

In 2021 Mango also created the first edition of FUORISOPHIA in Modena – September 17/18/19- www.fuorisophia.it; curated Gianluca Vernizzi breakthrough solo exhibition        –Mapping MUNDI– November 19 – December 15 at Atelier MIES in Modena; then co-authored the documentary short movie “Nessuno parla di lui” a portrait of artist Pier Luigi Testi directed by Giuseppe Bianchi, a documentary for the Thailand Biennale Korat 2021. Finally, in December 2021 he carried out a three week residency at Matdot Art Center in Bangkok developing a collaborative plan with Matdot Founder Tawatchai Somkong, Gianluca Vernizzi and Matdot Team, conceived to execute long term art-driven cultural and trade projects between Thailand and Italy.
