On 15 November 2024, the MATDOT Art Center hosted an engaging book talk event titled “Open Book – Open Mind: From Wisdom Series to Aladdin & Laddite” organised by Open Book Publishing, at Matdot Café. The gathering offered a deep dive into contemporary philosophy and societal insights through the works of renowned Thai author Pinyo Traisuriyathamma.

The event’s main speaker, Khun Bhuminath Pabao, founder of J Counsellor Co., Ltd., and Khaochai Publishing brought a wealth of experience from his background in Thailand’s judicial system, including roles at the Administrative and Constitutional Courts. A devoted admirer of Pinyo’s works, Bhuminath has read the entirety of the author’s writings and shared his reflections with the audience.

Pinyo’s Wisdom series, known for its exploration of contemporary philosophy, has profoundly resonated with Thai readers, raising awareness about global issues. His latest book, “Aladdin & Laddite”, uses the tale of Aladdin and the Laddite movement of the English Industrial Revolution as metaphors for societal evolution, offering lessons from the past to help prepare for the future.

The talk, attended by an enthusiastic group of readers, sparked lively discussions. MATDOT expressed its delight in hosting such a meaningful event and looks forward to organising similar enriching afternoons in the future.
