Exchange with Expert: Tawatchai Somkong Meets Art Students and Leads a Studio Tour

On 13 September 2024, MATDOT Art Center welcomed students and lecturers from the Department of Visual Arts, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, for an off-site study activity to exchange knowledge with experts.

The activity began with students visiting the exhibition “FROM 8 TO INFINITY,” where they attended a lecture on the exhibition’s concept and management process given by curator Sarana Wiriyaprasit and artist-in-residence, Paolo Gatti. Then, everyone had the opportunity to engage in a discussion on painting techniques with current resident artist Peter Holden, as well as a tour of his studio.

Afterward, Tawatchai Somkong, founder and managing director of MATDOT Art Center, opened the floor for students and lecturers to exchange ideas on creativity. Tawatchai also offered insightful advice on life as a professional artist in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The group then visited Tawatchai’s private studio, where they received an in-depth demonstration of oil painting techniques.
