On 26 February 2025, students and teachers from the Graphic Arts major at Poh-Chang Academy of Arts visited MATDOT Art Center for an immersive field study. The visit provided a unique opportunity to explore the rich history of printmaking and engage with contemporary artists.

Guided by MATDOT’s project director, Chalotorn Anchaleesahakorn, and curator, Sarana Wiriyaprasit, the students toured the Engraved Epics exhibition at MATDOT Gallery and Blacklist Gallery. They were captivated by the intricate illustrations of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, created using the rare wood engraving technique. The exhibition showcased the remarkable work of a late Indian printmaker, highlighting the craftsmanship behind early printed book illustrations.

Following the exhibition tour, students explored MATDOT’s artist-in-residence studios, where they met current resident artists Cathy Blanchflower and Gianluca Vernizzi. The visit gave them firsthand insights into the artists’ creative processes and ongoing projects.

MATDOT thanked the students and teachers for their visit, making the afternoon a vibrant and inspiring experience.
